Wednesday Nights: Stuff To Blow Your Mind

7:00-8:30 @ Heine Brothers on Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road

Face it: Your mind is addicted to mystery, from the star-choked sky to the stranger in the mirror staring back at you. Wednesday nights we will have a discussion group based on the podcast “Stuff To Blow Your Mind.”

Friday Nights: Kickball

Come enjoy God’s earthly playground with a casual game of kickball. You are welcome to come play or cheer. Afterward a healthy evening of enjoying nature, we go out for pizza!

Metro United Way has partnered with Adventist Relief Services to operate the warehouse for donations for the survivors of the March 2, 2012 tornado. (The warehouse needs individuals who can lift up to 35 pounds. Please wear close toed shoes.)

Kinesis Cook-Out

The YAV program is an amazing opportunity for young adults who want to participate in God’s work for shalom in the world. The National YAV site applications are extended to May 25. If you do not have plans for 2012-2013 yet you should take a look at this transformative experience.

Good Friday

Good Friday Worship Service
April 6 (tomorrow night)
7pm @ 1741 Frankfort Ave

Join us as we enter into story of Holy Week, experiencing betrayal, trial and death of Jesus. At the end of the 45 minute service, we will exit the sanctuary in darkness and silence and have a benediction on the stairs of the church. The service includes scripture, silence, music and interactive reflections geared to all ages so invite your family!

Kinesis Spring Retreat 2012

This year for our spring Kinesis retreat we will return to Red River Gorge.  We will carpool down on March 9 and return on March 11.  At this retreat we will have time for games, sharing meals together, Lent based reflection time and plenty of time for hiking and exploring the gorge.  We will be staying at Middle Fork Lodge, which is located inside the Natural Bridge State Park in the heart of Red River Gorge.  (Follow the link to see pictures - https://reservations.vacationrentaldesk.com/fahioc72uor.html)

The cost is $100 for the weekend or $50 for one night.  This includes lodging and meals.  Scholarships are available.

Park at Clifton Heights Christian Church (622 N Hite Ave) – Darcie’s house it just across the street.
This spring we will be reading A New Kind of Christianity: Ten Questions That Are Transforming the Faith by Brian D. McLaren. We will use this book and this time to give structure and vision to our large group dinners. If you have energy around creating our weekly meals, and discerning the path for Kinesis you should join us. I will have copies of the McLaren when we start meeting, this Monday! (January 16)

Tuesday Nights
Kinesis/Young Adults Dinners
6:30-8:00pm @ 4th Presbyterian Church (3016 Preston Highway – Louisville KY 40217)
On Tuesday nights we will gather for a meal and some time to be together. I will provide the main course and you are welcome to bring sides, drinks and dessert. Each week we will also have either worship, games or a discussion topic. Come and explore hospitality together!

Wednesday Afternoons at the University of Louisville
I will be hanging out at Jazzmine’s Caffe (on the first floor of the SAC) on Wednesday afternoons, drinking coffee and exploring the meaning of life. Come visit me!

What is the overarching story of the Bible?

During our last Tuesday night dinner we began exploring the questions from the Brian McLaren book A New Kind of Christianity. In this book he discusses 10 questions that are transforming the Christian faith. So, along with Brian we began to ask: “What is the overarching story of the Bible?” This collage mandala, is our first wrestlings with this question.
